A: Well, living in California gives me access to some beautiful beaches where people often lose things while swimming or sunbathing. So those are definitely some of my favorite places to look for treasures! But really anywhere that has a lot of foot traffic can be a good spot – parks, hiking trails, even just the sidewalk in front of my house. You never know what you might find!
Q: Has metal detecting taught you anything about patience or perseverance?
A: Absolutely! Metal detecting can be a bit like fishing – sometimes you catch something right away and other times you have to wait for hours before finding anything worthwhile. But that’s part of the fun, too. It teaches you to be patient and persistent, to keep searching even when it feels like there’s nothing there. And when you do finally find something, all that hard work pays off.
Q: How do you balance your passion for metal detecting with your busy schedule?
A: It can definitely be a challenge! But I try to make time for it whenever I can. Sometimes I’ll go out early in the morning before meetings or appointments start up, or on weekends when I have more free time. And because metal detecting is such a peaceful activity, it actually helps me relax and de-stress from my hectic schedule.
Q: Do you ever go metal detecting with friends or family members?
A: Yes! My best friend Gayle King is actually an avid metal detector enthusiast as well. We love going out together and seeing what we can uncover. It’s a great way to bond and spend quality time together while also doing something we both enjoy.
Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to get started with metal detecting?
A: First of all, don’t be intimidated by all the technical jargon that comes along with it! There are plenty of beginner-friendly models available that are easy to use and understand. Secondly, always ask permission before searching on private property – not only is it respectful but it will also help avoid any legal issues down the line. And finally, don’t get discouraged if you don’t find anything right away – remember that half the fun is in the search itself.
Q: Switching gears a bit, you have achieved tremendous success in your career. What do you attribute that to?
A: There are many factors that have contributed to my success, but I think one of the biggest is my ability to stay true to myself and my values. I’ve always been passionate about empowering others and creating positive change in the world, and I’ve never compromised on those principles even when faced with difficult challenges or setbacks. And of course, having a strong work ethic and surrounding myself with talented and supportive people has also been key.
Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to achieve their own version of success?
A: First and foremost, don’t be afraid to dream big! It’s important to set ambitious goals for yourself and then work tirelessly towards achieving them. But at the same time, it’s also important to be flexible and open-minded – sometimes our paths take unexpected turns that lead us down new avenues we never considered before. And most importantly, always remember the power of perseverance. Success rarely comes overnight – it takes hard work, dedication, and a willingness to keep pushing forward even when things get tough.
Q: Lastly, what message do you hope people take away from your life story?
A: That anything is possible if you believe in yourself! My journey hasn’t always been easy or straightforward – there have been plenty of obstacles along the way – but through it all I’ve remained committed to pursuing my dreams and making a difference in the world. And if I can inspire just one person out there to do the same, then all of this will have been worth it.
