Iron discrimination works well when searching for relics since they often contain high amounts of iron.

It’s crucial not to rely solely on these two modes; otherwise valuable items may still get missed during hunts because there may always be some areas where highly desirable objects include more than just precious metals/gems but also base-metal compositions (e.g., buttons). Therefore it’s best practice to use a combination of both notch and iron discrimination settings.

Discrimination settings are easy to adjust, but it’s essential to do so correctly. If you set your discrimination too high, you may miss valuable targets that fall within the rejected range. On the other hand, if you set your discrimination too low, you’ll be digging up trash all day long. It’s advisable to start with lower levels and gradually increase them until you find what works best for each specific search location.
