The first step towards achieving pinpoint accuracy is selecting the right search coil for the job. The size and shape of your coil play a significant role in determining how precise your reads will be. For instance, smaller coils are more accurate when it comes to locating small objects such as coins or jewelry buried deep in the ground.

Another vital factor that affects pinpointing accuracy is ground mineralization. When minerals like iron or salt are present in high concentrations under the soil surface, it becomes challenging to get an accurate signal from your detector. To counter this issue, many modern detectors come with adjustable ground balance settings that help eliminate false signals caused by mineralization.
