Lower Frequencies

Lower frequencies are best suited for detecting larger objects at greater depths. These frequencies penetrate deeper into the ground but may miss smaller targets like coins or jewelry. If you’re searching for relics or large artifacts, lower frequencies between 3 kHz and 7 kHz are ideal.

Mid-Range Frequencies

If you’re looking for gold nuggets or small jewelry items, mid-range frequencies between 7 kHz and 30 kHz are ideal. These frequencies can detect smaller targets closer to the surface than lower-frequency detectors.

Higher Frequencies

Higher frequencies above 30 kHz are best suited for finding small gold nuggets and tiny earrings or chains close to the surface. These high-frequency detectors have excellent sensitivity but lack depth penetration.

Choosing Frequency by Environment

Beach Hunting – Saltwater beaches can be challenging due to minerals in sand and saltwater interference with signals from low-frequency detectors; higher-frequencies work best on beaches.

Parks & Ball Fields – Mid-range (5kHz -15kHz) works well here since these areas typically contain less trash compared to other locations meaning more sensitivity is possible while still being able handle any iron nearby

Old Homesites & Relic Hunting – Low-frequency machines work great when relic hunting because they offer good depth penetration needed when looking deeper below ground surfaces.
