“Pulse Induction vs. Very Low Frequency Metal Detectors: Which Is Right For You?”

Metal detecting enthusiasts have the option of choosing between two main types of metal detectors: pulse induction (PI) and very low frequency (VLF). Both types come with their pros and cons, which we will examine below.

Pulse Induction Detectors:

They operate by transmitting a continuous electromagnetic energy into the ground while receiving any returning signals from buried objects. These signals are then processed, analyzed, and translated into audio feedback for the user to hear. VLFs typically offer better discrimination abilities for differentiating between desirable targets like coins and jewelry versus undesirable targets such as bottle caps or nails.

In conclusion, both PI and VLF metal detectors have unique features that make them suitable in specific situations. Choosing the right type of detector depends on your needs as a user; if you’re looking to search deep underground or deal with highly mineralized soil conditions, go for a PI detector; but if you want something more versatile with good discrimination capabilities, try out a VLF detector!
