Ghost signals are a common challenge that metal detectorists face during their treasure hunting adventures. These signals occur when the detector picks up on an object that isn’t actually present, leading to wasted time and frustration. In this post, we will explore some real-life examples of ghost signal case studies and discuss potential solutions.

One example involves a detectorist named Sarah who was exploring an old farm field. She kept receiving strong signals indicating the presence of coins, but after digging several holes, she found nothing. Frustrated, she realized that there were underground power lines running through the area which were causing interference with her metal detector’s readings.
